The Street Department has primary responsibility for the maintenance of some 265 miles of city streets and related storm drainage. The department also maintains and improves the minor off-street drainage ditches and major outfall creek channels. The department provides professional engineering services needed to prepare construction plans, review subdivision plans, and provide quality control for construction of street and drainage projects.

The Street Department has a total staff of 29 full-time employees and 4 part-time employees.
