Waste and Recycling Education Center

The City of Conway Department of Sanitation operates an innovative public outreach program advocating and educating for responsible waste and recycling practices. Our "Smart Recycling" presentations and tours can be customized to classroom lesson plans, timely topics, and special events.

FREE presentations and tours are offered to community groups/organizations and all Conway and greater area schools.

We offer the following outreach services:

  • We will come to you! Educational visits to schools and community groups/organizations' locations offer an engaging guest speaker presentation. Find out what products can and cannot be recycled and where items go to be recycled. Learn proper techniques in waste reduction and much, much more. Our presentations are tailored to your age group and preferred topic of interest.
  • See our facility and landfill in action! Tours/field trips are available to groups of 10 or more. Schools can schedule field trips for 3rd - 12th grade only. Tours include a visit to our Material Recovery Facility (MRF)1, Landfill2, and/or ReUse Center. Tours are offered Mondays or Fridays only, and must be scheduled in advance. Tours can be scheduled in conjunction with an educational presentation; extra time must be allotted.
  • We love community events! Earth Day fairs, recycling symposiums, day camps, and more. If your school or organization is hosting an educational or environment-friendly event, let us know. Our "booth" is ready with recycling resources for all Conway residents.

For more information or to schedule your presentation or tour, contact Whitney Reuschling, Recycling Coordinator, at 501-450-6155 or by email.
