Waste and Recycling Education Center

The City of Conway Department of Sanitation operates an innovative public outreach program for Conway schools and community organizations to educate about responsible waste and recycling best practices.

The Department offers the following outreach services:

  • Off-site educational visits to schools and community groups/organizations. Find out what products can and cannot be recycled, and where items go to be recycled. Our presentations are tailored to all corresponding age groups. Learn proper techniques in waste reduction and much, much more. Schedule a presentation with us today!
  • Tours/Field Trips are available to groups of 10 or more. Schools can schedule field trips for 3rd - 12th grade only. Our Tours consist of visiting our Material Recovery Facility (MRF)1, Landfill2, and/or Reuse Center. We only conduct our tours on Mondays or Fridays, and must be scheduled in advance. Tours can be scheduled in conjunction with an educational presentation; however extra time must be allotted.

Waste and recycling educational sessions are conducted by Alicia Neppl, the Recycling Coordinator for the City of Conway. All visits are free.

For more information, or to schedule a time for a visit or tour, contact Alicia, at (501) 450-6155 or email her at Alicia.Neppl@cityofconway.org.

1 All visitors must wear closed toe shoes. No flip flops or sandals allowed.

2 Visitors wanting to tour the landfill must provide their own transportation. Bus transportation only, no separate cars allowed.
